April 

April 3 & 4 - Coker Creek Heritage Group invites you to join them on a "Historical Tour of the Unicoi Turnpike Trail and Fort Armistead." Friday is an informal meeting at the Ruritan Club in Coker Creek. Saturday meet at the Coker Creek School for a trip to Fort Armistead and Unicoi Gap. the fee is $50 which includes free gifts, video and membership of the society. You can order lunch for an additional $9.Contact the Welcome Center in Coker Creek at 423-261-2286 before April 1.

Thursday, April 9 - Joint meeting of the Hiwassee and Cherokee Hiking Clubs at the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Etowah at 6:30 p.m. Bring a dish for the potluck meal that proceeds the presentation. The guest speaker is Joyce Baker, Professor of Chemistry and Associate Dean of Sciences & Mathematics at Tennessee Wesleyan College. She traveled to the Galapagos Islands in January, 2008 and will share information regarding the formation of the islands as well as pictures and stories of her experiences. Professor Baker is a long time fellow hiker of many of the members of both clubs.
DIRECTIONS: The Wesley Memorial Methodist church is on 10th Street just off of Tennessee Avenue. (411)

Oswald Dome is the clubs adopted trail. Trail is about 4 miles in length making it an 8 mile total hike.

leaders Esther Nunley & Clayton Pannell. Meet at the intersection of US 411 and Hwy. 30 The road to Reliance in the parking lot across the road from the store, at 1:30 PM. We plan to float form the boat ramp in Reliance to the  Patty Bridge.  Please bring you own canoe, Paddles,  life jackets, food water, (rain gear) and the people to ride in your canoe  Note if the water is low will float from the Gee Creek camp ground to the Patty Bridge.
